I wanted to take a moment and wish all of you a happy and healthy holiday celebration. Take a break and chill because this is the time of year to rejoice, celebrate, and feel rewarded. No matter how distant our loved ones may be this holidays season, let’s never forget the importance of sharing.
I’m not sure about you all out there, but for my family and I, Christmas is a big deal. Every year, we have a tradition of reading Twas the Night Before Christmas on Christmas Eve. I thought it would be fun to create my own version based on my experiences this year. So here we go:
‘Twas the night before Christmas and all through the house
Not a creature was stirring, except for my mouse.
Click, click, tap, tap, zig zag click, whew,
Tippy tappy on the keyboard my fingertips flew.
I had one more financial plan to complete this night
And then in my bed snuggled up with my bride so tight.
As fast as I could tried to finish up quick,
I mean no one should be awake for Saint Nick.
My head how it fell, my eyes oh so sleepy,
I was hunched over feeling quite weary.
Only one more step to finish this plan,
And my eyes softly closed this tired old man.
When suddenly, what on earth did I hear?
A faint tapping behind me, that sounded quite near.
As fast as I could I turned ‘round, at my window a man
Was creepily tapping the glass and waving his hand.
“Excuse me sir, your windows” he said, “are letting in cold.”
They’re not energy efficient and, really, quite old.
Tell you what, I’ll replace them with new ones made of fiberglass,
Everyone knows I’m the best in the area, the top of my class.”
My brow was now furrowed in honest confusion,
I tried to ponder his rude intrusion.
I heard a new sound, a chew and a slurp,
Followed by big lips smacking and then a loud burp.
“Excuse me,” said the eater, a man with white hair,
“That food was so good it came out of nowhere.
You should try this pulled pork, it’s really nom-nom,
I found this new recipe on SagePathFA.com”
It smelled amazing, looked yummy, but I was in shock,
How did Santa smoke a 14-hour pork butt, did he turn back the clock?
At the front door, I heard a knock knock knock,
A visitor telling me my roof was the dirtiest on the block.
I was about to object, but could not even utter,
Before he yelled, “Roof clean, what about your gutter?”
You need to protect your home with a leaf guard,
Contact me today,” and slipped me his card.
“Enough already," I yelled at the men,
But more knocking at the backdoor began.
“A bathroom remodel will give you a thrill,”
A man said as he pulled out a drill.
Up next, came a man claiming solar was best,
Then a salesman of lawn care wouldn’t give it a rest.
I was told how to care for and insure my car,
Then approached by lawyers from near and far.
The scene so loud I almost couldn’t hear the slight sounds
Of bells in my newly cleaned chimney and freshly fertilized grounds.
But soon Old Saint Nicholas joined in the crowd,
With a booming big chuckle and a voice very loud.
“It’s time for your gift,” and his bag he did show,
Then opened it and pulled out fresh white snow.
I sat there dumbfounded, snow in this warm place?
as up the chimney he flew with style and grace.
I heard a thump and suddenly yelled,
My face hit the keys as my head it fell.
I looked around, back in my seat at my screen,
And I knew in that moment, it was all just a dream.
I sighed with relief and worked a bit more,
Then sprang to my feet and raced to the door.
But before visions of sugarplums came, I did say,
“I guess that’s what I get, running this firm Sage Path FA.”
Happy Holidays to you and your loved ones!
